Biographical sketch: Am a 41 year young single male, began
writing poetry to express my inner self and my emotions.

An Introduction to Poetry by X.J. Kennedy &Dana Gioia
Reason: I desired to understand and have a better comprehension
of "poetry" before engaging in it. This tome and its contents caught
my eye and has become my favorite book of choice for inspiration and
enjoyment.
Recommendations for writers:
Your own emotional state when (for myself) actually composing the
poem. Once written, it is much harder for me to return and modify a
poem than it is a short story or an article.
